Visual Diary: Type Shadow

Visual Diary: Type Shadow

Visual Diary One: Type Shadow

Today I was waiting for the dentist to call me to the back. I looked up in the waiting room and I geeked out over this shadow!

I have been watching a lot of the show- Abstract: The Art of Design on Netflix lately and it has really inspired me to be more aware of my craft. Of course, I was inspired by the one with Paula Scher. She talked about how her journey to work in a taxi cab inspires her creativity. She sees a lot of type throughout the streets of New York and draws out those ideas in her notebook.

Today, I looked up and saw the shadow of the "Open" sign casting on the ceiling and wall of the office. I was very intrigued by how the letters were warped on the wall and decided that I wanted to take this into illustrator and use it as inspiration for a future project.

This is what I ended up with! (:

I really like how the type is part of the background and the warped shape is interesting. I wanted to use different colors for my version to make it pop more.
